DevOps & Cloud

DevOps and cloud infrastructure that gets out of the way.

We set up the pipelines, environments and monitoring that turn releasing into a non-event, and leave your team able to run all of it without us.

Slow releases are usually an infrastructure problem.

When deployment is manual and frightening, teams batch changes into large, risky releases, which fail more often, which makes deployment more frightening. The fix is rarely more process.

Automated pipelines, reproducible environments and honest monitoring make each release small and reversible. That is what lets a team of four ship like a team of fifteen.

Included

  • CI/CD pipelines with automated tests, preview environments and safe rollbacks
  • Infrastructure as code for repeatable, reviewable environments
  • Monitoring, logging, tracing and on-call alerts tuned to cut the noise
  • Cost review, right-sizing and security hardening of existing cloud accounts

What you end up with

Infrastructure defined in code, one-click deployments, alerting that pages for real problems only and a cloud bill you can read.

The difference

Hand-run servers vs. engineered infrastructure

Both keep the site up on a good day. Only one does on a bad one.

Hand-run infrastructure

  • Servers configured by clicking through a console
  • Deployments follow a checklist one person remembers
  • Outages reported by customers
  • Staging drifts until it no longer resembles production
  • The cloud bill grows and nobody can say why

Engineered infrastructure

  • Every resource defined in code and reviewed like code
  • Push-button deploys with automated rollback
  • Alerts fire on user impact before a customer writes in
  • Identical environments created from the same templates
  • Costs tagged, budgeted and reviewed monthly

What we build

Where we help

Engagements range from a one-week audit to building a platform from an empty cloud account.

  1. CI/CD and release engineering

Pipelines that test, build, sign and deploy on every merge, with preview environments and progressive rollouts.

  2. Cloud architecture and migration

New environments designed for your actual load, or a staged move from legacy hosting with a tested rollback at each step.

  3. Observability and reliability

Metrics, logs, traces and alerts organised around what users experience, plus runbooks for the incidents that will happen anyway.

  4. Security and cost review

Access, secrets, network exposure and backups audited, alongside a line-by-line look at where the money goes.

Process

How the work runs, phase by phase.

Each phase ends with something you can see, use or sign off.

  1. Audit

We map what runs where, how it is deployed and what fails. You get a prioritised list of risks and quick wins.

  2. Codify

Existing infrastructure is captured as code so every later change is reviewable, repeatable and reversible.

  3. Automate delivery

Pipelines for test, build and deploy, with preview environments and a rollback that has actually been rehearsed.

  4. Observe

Dashboards and alerts built around service-level objectives, so the on-call phone rings for real problems only.

  5. Hand over

Runbooks, architecture diagrams and a walkthrough. Optional retainer for on-call support and ongoing tuning.

Timelines

How long it usually takes.

Typical ranges for well-scoped work. Discovery comes first and produces a fixed quote and a date.

Infrastructure audit

1–2 weeks

Written findings on reliability, security and cost, ranked by impact.

Pipeline and environments

3–6 weeks

CI/CD, infrastructure as code and monitoring for one product.

Cloud migration

6–12 weeks

Staged move with parallel running and a rehearsed cutover.

FAQ

DevOps & Cloud: common questions.

We are a small team. Do we need DevOps at all?

You need the outcomes (safe, frequent releases and knowing when something breaks) but usually not a dedicated hire. A well-built pipeline and sensible managed services give a small team most of the benefit with very little to maintain.

Do we need Kubernetes?

Usually not. Managed platforms or a simple container service cover most products with far less operational overhead. We recommend Kubernetes when your scale or workload genuinely calls for it.

Which cloud providers do you work with?

Mostly AWS, with Google Cloud, Azure and Vercel regularly. We work in whichever you already use unless there is a concrete reason to move.

Can you reduce our cloud bill?

Usually, though we will not promise a figure before looking. Idle resources, oversized instances and unbounded logs are the common culprits, and the audit tells you what each fix is worth.

Will we depend on you to run it?

No. Everything is defined in code in your repositories and running in your accounts, with runbooks written for your team. A retainer is available but never required.
